Grendel's Cave 2.0 is coming!

On Sunday, November 11th, 2007, I am rolling out Grendel's Cave 2.0. The new version is based on Norse Mythology and has Norse Quests. The game play is very similar to Norse GC with some minor differences.

The new version will be free for all to play and will not have separate kingdoms for free players and paid subscribers. The game will no longer be pay per click. You can play for free for as long and as much as you
want.

You will be able to resurrect a dead non-premium thane at the cost of one life. You can purchase lives at a rate of 50 cents per life, with a minimum purchase of ten lives. All current paid subscribers to Grendel's Cave will have their clicks converted to lives at the rate of 3650 clicks to one life, rounded up. Every paid subscriber will start out with at least one life.

You will also be able to purchase premiums for lives. All active premiums for currently paid subscribers will convert into lives at the rate in the following table.

Lives Premium

1 Wolf
5 Personal Picture
5 Seer
5 Kali
10 Berserker
10 Trickster
20 Valkyrie

The new version of GC will have four kingdom types; Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced and Tournament. The Beginning kingdom will be very similar to the old Beginning kingdom with limited cave depth, limited  improvements, a low death penalty and relaxed sailing rules.  The Intermediate and Advanced kingdoms will be similar to the current Norse IK and AK.

The Tournament kingdom will be a competition kingdom with a cash prize of $500 for Killing Grendel. It will cost one life to enter the TK and it will have a harsh death penalty. Only Human-Human thanes will be allowed to enter the TK. Sailing into a TK from any other kingdom will never be allowed. It is logically possible to kill Grendel in the TK but will be so difficult that I do not think anyone will ever be able to do it. Good luck to all who try.

Please note that on November 11th, when I activate GC2.0, I will completely remove the old versions of Grendel's Cave. All existing thanes, items and monsters, both in the free and paid kingdoms, will be lost.

Thank you for your continued support,

Beowulf
